Gemini Girl- A Yin and Yang

Hello there. I am in love with the Horoscope Girls line of stamps from Picket Fence Studios. I find them to be so unique and beautiful. I had been anxiously waiting for the release of the Gemini Girl (my astrological sign), wondering just how they would do it, being the sign of the twins. I have to say, this set exceeded my expectations! I love that they gave her a mask... brilliant!

I see this girl as very ethereal, so I wanted her colouring to be very celestial. I stamped her onto Bristol Smooth paper using Ink on 3 no line coloring, fade out ink. Then I coloured the image up using a combination of pearlescent/metallic watercolour paint and colored pencils.

For the girl I used tones of creams and golds with green eyes. I stamped a separate image so that I could colour the mask and fussy cut it out. This will add dimension to the image to make it appear more mask like.

For the mask, I used tones of grey and silvers with grey eyes.

The faces and body were done using pencils and I did the hair and accessories using the watercolours.

Once the watercolour was completely dry, I die cut her out using the coordinating die that is available. Then I adhered the coloured mask on.

I then created a celestial background for my Gemini Girl to go on. I wanted something beautiful but nothing that would detract from her beauty. I had a feeling the new Connected by the Stars stencil from The Rabbit Hole Designs would make the perfect background. I placed the stencil over a white A2 sized (4.25x5.5") panel and used my finger to blend a blue/grey metallic wax through the stencil onto the paper. All I needed to do was lightly touch the product to get enough for good coverage. It spreads so well.

Then I used a stitched rectangle die from my stash to trim the panel down. I stamped the sentiment on the panel using Concord and 9th's Dove Grey ink pad.

I then adhered my Gemini Girl onto the panel and the panel onto a white, top folding A2 sized card base. This finished off my card.

I am so happy with how this card turned out. I hope you like it too and that I've inspired you to try something similar with your Horoscope Girl!
