Hello! i-crafter has a fun new release out today! I used the new Matchbook Base die set to create an awesome way to give Grandparents or other family members your child's school photos. What is also awesome about the Matchbook, is that it can fold flat for mailing!
To create my matchbook, I first die cut all the elements for the book itself from white cardstock.
For the top flap, I used i-Crafters Buffalo Plaid stencil to create the pretty 2 coloured pattern. I secured the stencil over the die cut flap and then blocked off the lined squares using blue tape.
then I used an i-Blend blending brush to ink blend Catherine Pooler Aquatini ink onto the solid squares. I then covered the solid squares and blended Catherine Pooler's Lime Rickey ink into the lined squares. I repeated the same process on the frame for inside the matchbook.
Next, I folded the flap and the matchbook base along the score lines and adhered them together.
Now that the matchbook was assembled, I die cut the elements using dies included with the Matchbook Base, to decorate it with. I die cut the eyelets for the holes, ink blended Aquatini onto them and adhered them around the holes on the base.
I wanted to keep the inside simple so that it wouldn't detract from the photo and also so that the recipient could remove the frame with photo and put it in their wallet. So, all I did was adhere the picture to the back of the frame and placed it inside the matchbook. If you have more than 1 child, you can easily place a few frames in the same matchbook! I then used a ribbon from my stash and tied it through the holes.
I then die cut 2 flower shapes and 2 leaves and ink blended Aquatini and Lime Rickey onto them. I also die cut the center of the flower then blended Catherine Pooler's All That Jazz onto it.
When the ink was dry, I adhered the pieces of my flower together.
I then die cut "for you" twice using the included dies in the set and ink blended Aquatini on one set and All that Jazz on the other.
I adhered the darker words on the bottom, offset, to create a shadow.
I then adhered the elements onto the flap.
I think this is a cute and fun way to present your loved ones, especially grandparents, with school photos. I hope this inspires you to give this a try with your own kid's school photos. What's great is that you can stack a few frames in the same matchbook, so they are all in one place!
Thanks so much for visiting! Happy Crafting!
