Warm Hugs

I fell in love with the Chunky Sweater background stamp from Simon Says Stamp the minute

I saw it. I love cuddly soft knit sweaters or warming up under a knit blanket with a book and a hot cup of coffee. This stamp makes me think of both so I knew I had to pair it with the Warm Hugs die set.

I made two cards using this colour palette. One with water colours, the other using Prismacolor pencils. I chose these colours specifically with a sequins blend from Doodles Paper Playground in mind. This is my favourite holiday blend and have been dying to use it. They make the best sparkle blends!!

CARD 1:

To create the card I made using Prismacolors, I first stamped the sweater image onto a 6x6 white cardstock panel using Ink On 3 no line ink. I then coloured up the image using coloured pencils: Lavender, Dahlia Purple, Non-Photo Blue, True blue and White.

Once the colouring was done, I trimmed the panel down to just under 6x6 so that I could place it on a matching blue 6x6 cardstock background. I adhered the panels together, then onto a 6x6 top folding card base.

Next, I placed the Warm Hugs die set together, one inside the other. Then I placed it onto blue cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine. Next, onto purple cardstock, I used just the inside die to cut the warm hugs word out. I shimmered the purple die cut with my glimmer pen. Then I placed it inside the blue die cut and adhered them onto my sweater panel.

To finish off this card, I glued on a bunch of the sequins from the Little Flurries blend.

CARD 2:

For the water colour card, I first stamped the image onto water colour paper using Mermaid Lagoon, distress oxide ink. I then coloured up the whole image using Inktense Color pencils. I love these pencils because they are vibrant and the ink dries permanent so there is very little bleeding.

I created the rest of the card the same way that I did the previous card. The only difference is the Warm Hugs sentiment. I just die cut the work in white card stock then adhered it onto the card.

I really hope you enjoy this warm hugs duo. Which one was your favourite? I'd love to know. Thanks for visiting! Happy Crafting.
