Painting the Roses Red-Day 2 of TRHD August Release and Inspiration Hop

Hello! I am so very excited about this month's amazing new release from The Rabbit Hole Designs. Being a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland I was over the moon to create with all the fun new products.

My card for day 2 features the Wonderland 2 stamp set. The moment I saw this set, I knew I wanted to create a scene where the Ace of Spades was painting the roses red. When I was a little girl, this part of the animated movie really fascinated me. I'm surprised that I never tried to paint my mother's flowers!

To create this card, I started by using the rose stamp from the Wonderland 1 set. I used black ink and stamped it randomly all over a 4.25x5.5" white cardstock panel.

I then used Prismacolor Premier pencils to colour the roses and the background.

Then I stamped the Queen, Ace of Spades and a potted rose tree in black ink onto white cardstock. I used my pencils to colour them up. I left the roses white on the tree because they hadn't been "painted" yet. I die cut them out using coordinating dies that are available for these sets. I die cut 3 extra Queen and Ace shapes from white cardstock and adhered them behind their coloured counterparts.

To "paint" the flowers red, I used Dina Wakley Gloss Spray in Ruby. Instead of spraying it, I just dipped a paint brush in and added the paint to the flowers. I ended up dropping a big blob of on my panel. Ooops! Instead of starting all over, I decided that was where I'd place my sentiment.

I then cut a scalloped frame from white and black cardstock using a die from my stash. I adhered them to my rose bush panel, once the paint was dry.

I then adhered my characters onto the panel.

Next, I created my sentiment for the panel. First, I prepared my piece of black cardstock for embossing by using my Cottontail Embossing Tool on the cardstock. Then I stamped my sentiment using a Versamark Embossing ink pad. I added white embossing powder, shook off the excess, heat set it and added it to my panel. I made sure to position it to cover up my "oops".

Using scissors, I trimmed the part of the green cardstock that extended beyond the frames. Then I adhered it onto an A2 (4.25x5x5") sized green cardstock panel and lastly, onto a top folding A2 sized card base.

I am completely in love with the whole release this month as I have been an Alice in Wonderland fan since I was a child. I hope this card brings back memories of watching the animated movie and inspires you to create some fun cards yourself!
