Hello Lovely!

Hello lovelies! I have always associated poppy flowers with Remembrance Day (Veteran's Day in USA) because of the poem In Flanders Field that we had to memorize in school. So they have always had a sad yet beautiful connotation for me. I decided to colour this pretty Timeless Poppies stamp from Gina K Designs in colours I wouldn't normally choose of for poppies. Poppy flowers look so thin and fragile so I felt water colouring would be a perfect way to colour this image.

I started out with a 5 x 7 watercolour paper panel. I used my anti-static tool over the panel then stamped the image onto the panel in Versamark ink using my Misti stamping tool.

I covered my Versamarked image with silver embossing powder. I tapped off the excess and used a paint brush to wipe away any stray powder bits still there. Then I heat set the image, making sure to preheat the heat gun first so that it was already hot when I ran it across the powder.

Next, I pulled out my Karin Brushmarkers and coloured up the whole image.

Colours I used were: Indigo Blue, Lush Green, Grass Green, Gold, Cool Grey, Arctic Blue (for shadowing around edges).

Once the panel had dried completely, I stamped my sentiment on using Versamark ink then added silver embossing powder. Then heat set the sentiment.

I trimmed my sentiment down a little to allow for a border. I cut dark blue cardstock to 5 x 7 and adhered that to a card base of the same size. I then adhered my water coloured poppy panel onto the card and added a few silver embellishments for interest.

I am so pleased with the way water colouring this beautiful poppy image came out! I love this card, now to send if off to someone special!
