Happy We Are Friends-TRHD New Release and Inspiration Hop

Hi and welcome to The Rabbit Hole Designs new release and inspiration hop. You might have arrived here from my fabulously talented friend Kim's blog. It is a big release this month, so hop along and enjoy all the awesome inspiration!

My creation today is a little mixed media using the new Happy Scripty stamp and die sets and Mid Century Modern stencil. I started out with a 4.25 x 5.5" white cardstock panel. I brushed on a layer of collage medium to prime my panel which will make adding layers easier. I dried it quickly with my heat tool. Once the panel was dry, I brushed purple and turquoise acrylic paint horizontally across the panel. I quickly dried the panel again. Next, on the dry panel, I brushed white acrylic paint in some areas. Then dried the panel with the heat tool. I placed my stencil over the panel and using a palate knife, applied a layer of modeling paste through the stencil to random areas of the panel. Then lifted the stencil carefully and washed the stencil and palate knife with warm soapy water.

Now comes my favourite part, applying the silver foil. To get the foil to stick, I used my finger to swipe a thin layer of Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo randomly on the panel. I waited just a couple of minutes and then placed the silver transfer sheet over the tacky gel and rubbed over the top (you could use a bone folder if you want) I pulled back the foil to see the transferred silver.

Then, I die cut the word Happy out of pink glitter paper and also black cardstock. I adhered the glitter word on the black one offset a little to create a shadow. Then I die cut a white shadow using the corresponding die. I added silver foil to the shadow using the same technique I used for the panel. I adhered the happy onto the shadow then onto the panel.

Last but not least, I stamped the sentiment onto black cardstock using versamark ink and then added white embossing powder and heat set it. I trimmed it down and adhered it under the word Happy. Then, I adhered my panel to the front of my A2(4.25 x 5.5") card base.

I had so much fun creating this mixed media card. I hope this inspires you to give mixed media a try as well.
