Endless Summer-TRHD Release and Inspiration Hop

Who else is dreaming about a summer vacation at the beach? Today is day1of The Rabbit Hole Designs new release and inspiration blog hop and it is overflowing with beach/vacation inspiration.

Today's card features the new Beachin' stamp set and boy is it beautiful! I took elements from the set to create this picture frame inspired card! I featured all my favourite things about the beach in this card.

I started by stamping the pretty shell stamps included in the set randomly over an A2 (4.25x5.5) sized white cardstock panel in Versamark Ink. Then I placed white pearl embossing powder over the panel, brushed off loose powder then heat set the powder.

Once cool, I used the awesome Cotton Tail blending brushes to blend a sunset background over the whole panel. I started at the bottom and progressed up to the top. The Distressed Oxide colours I used were: Fossilized Amber, Carved Pumpkin, Barn Door, Fired Brick and then a very light touch of Black Soot over the top of the Fired Brick to deepen the colour. Then took a soft paper towel and wiped over the shells to remove ink from them.

I then stamped the flower image 6 times on white cardstock using black ink. I also inked up and stamped the area of the main stamp that has the sunglasses. I coloured all the images using Prisma Color pencils and fussy cut them out. The colours I used were:

Sunglass frames: Poppy Red, Permanent Red, Scarlet Red

Sunglass lenses: Cloud Blue, Cool Blue, 20% and 30% Cool Grey

Flowers: Lemon Yellow, Yellowed Orange

Next, I adhered the sunset panel to my top folding A2 card base. Then from my stash I cut the wood panels for the frame twice to layer up on top of each other to create some height to the frame. Before I added the frame to the panel, I distressed them with Black Soot ink.

After that, I started to add the elements to the frame. I used double sided foam tape on the back of the sunglasses and a couple flowers to add dimension to some of them.

The final set was to stamp out the sentiment on white cardstock, trim it down and adhere inside the frame.

I hope my card featuring the things I love about the beach inspires you and gets you in the mood for summer! Thanks for visiting!
