Be Like The Lotus

These lovely lotus flowers are growing tall and proud. I have created this fourth card in what I have affectionately dubbed, "My Spa Collection". That is the vibe that I am trying to invoke with these creations.

For this slimline card I used both the the large and small flowers from the Lovely Lotus stamp set by Gina K Designs. The first step was to create 3 masks. One of the large lotus, two of the small lotus and then one stem. I then stamped the large lotus in the center, placed the mask on, then stamped the stem and masked it as well. Next, I stamped the two smaller lotus flowers so they will appear to be behind the larger one then placed the masks over them too (see image below).

With the masks in place, I proceeded to ink blend Distress Oxide inks in Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Mermaid Lagoon. I removed the all the masks then let the ink set a bit before I coloured the flowers with Copics. I also created stems for the small flowers with a ruler and black Prismacolor pencil. The Copics I used were:

Flowers: BG10, G00, BG23

Stems: G02, YG45

Next I stamped the sentiment towards the top in black ink. When I looked at the pretty scene, I felt that it needed to be framed in black. So, I used my Slimline dies from Trinity Stamps to create the black cardstock frame. I cut and glued four layers to give it some dimension.

I hope you like my new addition to my "collection". Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!
