A Haunting We Will Glow-PBP and i-crafter Colab

Welcome to the A-Haunting We Will Glow Collab Hop with i-crafter and Pear Blossom Press! We're sharing spooky sweet projects for Halloween. Featuring interactive dies from i-crafter, and with help from Pear Blossom Press, they all really light up! Be sure to hop along with us for lots of inspiration; we’ve come up with some brilliant cards. Let me show you mine...

Halloween cards are some of my favourite type of cards to make and then to be able to add spooky lightning? Now that's a match made in heaven! And the lights from Pear Blossom Press are so easy to use.

To create my light up A2 (4.25x5.5") sized Haunted House card, I used the Tunnel Card, Halloween Add-on die set by i-crafter along with 2 EZ Light units by PBP. Each unit contains 3 lights.

The first step was to create my house on the hill. I used the die with the house on it with an A2 sized black cardstock panel. and ran it through my die cutting machine. It cuts to just past the tombstones so I used scissors to trim the rest of the way sloping downward to the edges to create a hill. I adhered grey cardstock behind the door and windows.

For my background, I started out with an A2 sized grey cardstock panel. I ink blended a stormy spooky sky to go behind my haunted house. I used Distress Oxide inks in Ripe Persimmon, Seedless Preserves, Prize Ribbon and also Black Soot. I used a craft knife and cut jagged lines in the sky to be my lightning. I also cut clouds, freehand, out of dark grey cardstock then blended black soot around their edges.

Next, I created the elements that would go onto the front of the card. For the 2 trees, I used the die with the trees on dark grey cardstock. I cut between the trees to separate them in order to place one on each side of the card. I did this 3 more times so that I could adhere them on top of each other. This will make them appear closer when on the card. I die cut the fence and pumpkins. I smeared a bit of Vintage Photo distress oxide ink on the fence and Black Soot on the jack-o-lanterns. Then backed the jack-o-lanterns with grey cardstock. Then I die cut the word Beware from red, grey and black cardstocks.

Before adhering the elements onto the panel, I flipped it over and set up the lighting for the lightning. I used 2 EZ light units so that the lightning would be lit the whole length and also so that it could be lit separately to create a more realistic lightning effect. I positioned the buttons so that they would be on each side under a pumpkin.

As I positioned the lights, I held them down temporarily with low tack tape so I could make sure I had them in the places I wanted. One light near the top of the lightning, the other closer to the bottom. I also made sure that the button/battery wasn't too close to the edge of the panel. That way foam tape can still fit all around the outer edge. Once I was happy with the positioning, I added my double sided foam tape and removed the release paper.

The foam tape can go directly over the wiring, just be careful not to crimp the wires or cover the areas you want the light to show through.

Next, I carefully lined up and adhered my top folding A2 sized card base over the foam tape. Then I flipped it over and adhered all the elements I had cut out to create my spooky stormy scene.

This was such a fun card to create and I love the way it turned out! I really hope this inspires you to try out some EZ lights for your own spooky card. Here are my affiliate(do not add any extra charge to you but I do receive a small commission) links to the products I used:
