Thinking Of You

Updated: Jul 24, 2021

Welcome! I love working with this beautiful Timeless Poppies stamp set by Gina K Designs. I wanted to make a soft and pretty card that would be perfect as a sympathy card. Poppies are so papery and fragile looking so I thought that they would look great on vellum.

I started by stamping the image and sentiment on a 5x7 piece of vellum using Versamark ink. I prepared the vellum first using an anti static tool. I then stamped and covered the image with white embossing powder. I was really careful when heating the embossing powder making sure to move the heat gun constantly and not too close to the vellum in order to prevent warping.

Next, I coloured my image (on the front of the vellum) using Prismacolour pencils in shades of cool greys for the petals and greens for the stems and leaves.

After colouring, I splattered the panel with grey and white watercolour paint.

Once dry, I adhered the vellum panel onto a 5x7 white card base. I used Bearly Art glue which has a precision tip. I added dots and lines of the glue behind the embossing powder and paint splatters. I am so please with the soft and subtle look of this card. Colouring on vellum was really easy and turned out so nicely. I hope this inspires you to give it a try!
