It is day 3 of The Rabbit Hole Designs new release and inspiration blog hop. Today my card features the adorable Starfish in the Sand stamp set illustrated by Tatsiana Zayats. This bunny looks so happy to be chillin' at the beach. I wanted to make it look like the waves were washing over her as she laid on the beach.
My first step was to stamp the bunny image ink black onto an A2 sized white cardstock panel. Then I coloured everything using Prisma Color pencils. The colours I used were:
Bunny:10%, 20%, 30% & 50% Warm Gray, Pink, Pink Rose, White
Bunny Belly(a touch of sunburn!): Deco Pink, Pink
Yellow Shell: Deco Yellow, Canary Yellow, Spanish Orange
Teal Shell: Aquamarine, Peacock Blue
Pink Shell: Hot Pink, Process Red, Pomegranate
Brown Shell: Eggshell, Clay Rose, Light Umber
Rocks: 10% Cool Gray, Slate Gray, Black, White
Sand: Peach Beige, Sand, Seashell Pink
Water: Sky Blue Light, True Blue
After all colouring was done, I trimmed my panel just under 4.25x5.5 in order to allow a thin border of black to show. Then I started creating the look of the water. To do this I applied my Versamark ink pad directly to the panel overtop the panel. I covered the versamarked area with ultrathick clear embossing powder, brushed off any powder that strayed away and then heat set it. Once it had cooled, I applied another layer of embossing powder applying the versamark ink over top of the cooled layer then covering it and heat setting.
After I had the water looking as I wanted it, I created the seafoam at the edge of the water. To create the foam, I used a versamark pen and applied it all along the edge in a uneven, wavy sort of line. I then covered that area with white puff embossing powder. I left some of the strays there to resemble splashes then heat set it. I adhered the panel to an A2 sized black cardstock panel.
I stamped the #ahh sentiment from the Tea Rex set onto white cardstock then used a banner die from my stash to cut it out. I then created the black border from a bigger banner. I adhered them together trimmed the end to fit onto the bunny panel. I also coloured around the sentiment the same as I did the sand.
Finally, I adhered my finished panel to a top folding A2 sized card base.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope this inspires you to create you own starfish in the sand!
